Filmhuis Cavia

It is an independent cinema founded in 1983 by the squatters’ movement of Amsterdam. Since then, Cavia has been entirely run by a team of volunteers and showing films that can hardly be seen in the Dutch official cinema circuit.
In Cavia, I have developed different programs with Colombian, Latin American, and local films.

Cinemateca Universidad del Valle

After eighteen years of being opened, the Cinemateca of the Universidad del Valle changed its director for the first time. They required a new action rout. After its late digitization, its audience was getting more and more reduced. I created a collaborative program where students, professors, and different guests proposed cinema programs and events. Through collective programing, the Cinemateca started a new life, embracing it as a community project within the university and the city.

2012 - 2017

Cinema Colombiano

Since 2019 I'm part of Cinema Colombiano, a festival that since 2015 has been promoting Colombian cinema and music in The Netherlands.
Its sixth version had a female focus, showing the work not only of women but of transgender people in Colombia. We are now preparing our next edition, exploring underground film.

Cinemateca Museo la Tertulia

This Cinemateca is the most relevant independent cinema of the Colombian Southwest, with a history since the 1970s ─ being representative of the cinephile movement of those times. With the digitalization of cinemas, which in Colombia came late for the alternative and independent ones, the Cinemateca had a significant relapse from the one it has been recovering for years.
After its digitization and sound improvement, it was able to enter again in the official cinema circuit, where it has been very relevant in support of the local and national cinemas.

For myself, the Cinemateca de la Tertulia was an opportunity to know how the distribution and exhibition circuits work in Colombia. With its complex bureaucratic processes and the creativity and hard-work of emerging distributors, independent programmers, and film festivals.
